Chateau Grand Traverse check presentation

Chateau Grand Traverse Winery gave a big toast to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources when they presented a $10,000 check toward the replacement of 200 diseased trees late last week.

As part of "The Wines of the Great Outdoors" series and a three-year partnership, CGT will donate approximately 50 percent of the net profits to Michigan’s parks, trails and waterways each year. Want to take part in how the funds will be used in the next round? You can cast your online vote to help choose new recreation funding for next year. The choices are recycling, natural playgrounds and tree replacement.

Recycling in the Great Outdoors

Recycle Michigan

Michiganders return more than 90 percent of bottles and cans. This is an outstanding number, but did you know that returnables only make up two percent of waste generated in Michigan?

As a result, the DNR encourages visitors to recycle when camping, visiting a state park or hiking. When traveling, look for recycling facilities located in local communities or many of the state parks and harbors. It helps to bring a bag or container to store your recyclables until you can recycle. Help ensure that the places you love to visit stay beautiful for years to come.
